The Hardest Part About Starting a blog
When I started blogging, I kind of just thought I could write some content, post some photos on Instagram and call it a day. NOPE! There is so much more that goes into this. Coming up with ideas, research, writing, editing, posting, publishing, promoting and that's just for the blogs.
Instagram is a whole different story. You first have photos to post. Now I know plenty of bloggers spend a day taking content photos or they do super fun things and save the photos. I do neither. I don’t have time or enough ideas to go out and take pictures. I also don’t have anyone to do it with me. And no offense to the boyfriend, but he is still in the photography training courses if you catch my drift.
I also don’t go out and do content-worthy things. I should probably romanticize my life more. Take more photos, appreciate my surroundings more, go be a tourist in my new city. I should do all that stuff, but my weekends are currently dedicated to football. And I guess I could take pictures of that: me in bed all Sunday watching whatever I want while my boyfriend is watching 8 football games at once. That could make for funny content. So, maybe I will do that. Wow, this turned into a brainstorming blog on top of a vent session.
Anyway, back to the original vent. So once you have your content, you can’t just post it. You need to edit it to your Instagram Aesthetic, but it can’t be too edited because social media is becoming more authentic (yay!). There are so many aesthetics to have though. I’ve been researching them because I want a cohesive look. You can over edit and do that orange and teal trend lots of people like. You can add a white filter and make it light and airy. You can only post certain colors. You can only post certain poses or types of images. You have bright colors, pastels, darks, quotes and the options are endless.
However, the aesthetic you pick has to be used every time you post. You can’t just change your aesthetic based on the photo. This is where I struggle. I don’t know my “vibe”. Like I barely know what my style is called. My apartment is homey, are my clothes comfortable? I don’t know if I can just fit into a box like that. But I am going to try. If I can figure this out, it will be pretty cool!
So Instagram is hard, so is getting exposure! I know the more you write, the more Instagram throughout the day, but I am just liking things. If I sit down and intentionally scroll, follow people, comment on people’s posts, like their posts, maybe even post a reels I could totally get more exposure.
So I guess I know what I will be doing for the next few weeks. If I figure it out you can see it on my Instagram. My goals will be:
Find my Instagram Aesthetic (maybe I will take a quiz)
Start romanticizing my life and take more photos
Maybe don’t sit in bed all Sunday doing nothing
Spend more intentional time on Instagram
Follow people
